I had the opportunity to taste it in several forms before writing this tasting note and I really enjoy it. It’s a rum that has a very beautiful, light and accessible expression.
The Double Matur Panama Old Ron 10 Years has some nice, distinct differences with the 9 Years Old, which makes tasting these two rums together a wonderful experience.

If you are a fan of sweet and gourmand rum, this is a rum that will allow you to appreciate the lightness of a good rum with perhaps less add sugar while keeping the pleasure of the delicacy that Hispanic-style rums can have.
The story of the Double Matur Panama Old Ron 10 years
The Gelas family business was found in 1865 by Baptiste Gelas, Philippe Gelas’s great-grandfather. He was a cooper by trade and took advantage of strong demand from the USA at the end of the Civil War to expand his spirits business. The business was later taken over by Baptiste’s son, Louis Gelas. He distill not only wine, but also fruit (peaches, pears, etc.). Louis was the first to develop the distillery’s range of spirits.
