This is a rum with a beautiful complexity on the nose, a little less so on the palate. It is a rum that is still very accessible and will allow young amateurs to move towards a more powerful rum to develop their palate. For experienced amateurs, it remains a very pleasant rum, especially to accompany a dessert.
This isn’t the first time I’ve discovered a Panamanian rum whose bottler has wanted to change the expression to give it a bit of their own unique touch. The Gelas family has decided to follow this same path for their first range of rum.

I only got to know Philippe Gelas fax lists because he subscribed to my email list.
I have many rum and rum-arranged lovers who regularly follow my emails. I have a few enthusiasts who are embarking on the adventure of selling their rum-arranged wines, and I also have wine merchants.
It is also a pleasure to discover rum producers.
We chatted quite a bit. First, we discussed the topics I cover in my emails, and then we talked about the range of rums produced by the Gelas family.
I really like Panamanian rums. I’ve tasted several and I find them very good. They are excellent with a creamy dessert. I’m thinking in particular of the Esprit Panama 2004 that I tasted at the Table du Loup, a real delight.
So, the opportunity to be able to taste a new expression of this rum was an obvious pleasure.
Why discover the Double matured Panama Old Ron 9 years?
This rum is a real delight.
I’m primarily interested in the 10-year-old rum so far. I have a slight preference for this more refined, but less pronounced rum, which has a more appealing expression than the 9-year-old.
